“Young People Research and Write”: A joint project by Belgieninfo and the iDSB

Young people’s perspectives on current issues: Through the “Young People Research and Write” project, Belgieninfo and the iDSB are giving pupils the opportunity to write and publish their own journalistic articles.

The project builds on the long-standing partnership between Belgieninfo and the iDSB. In March 2026, four members of Belgieninfo met with pupils from Years 9, 10 and 11, as well as numerous teachers, for a journalism workshop on the school grounds in Wezembeek-Oppem. This exchange gave rise to the idea of providing young writers with a platform for their topics and perspectives.

The series kicks off with six articles by pupils from iDSB. The topics range from dealing with ‘stumbling stones’ of remembrance to violent assaults by law enforcement officers in Minneapolis, USA, and an analysis of Belgium’s political system. It also includes a spontaneous report from the school’s local area and a critical assessment of the quality of cycle paths.

The articles demonstrate the diversity of the issues that concern young people – and offer readers new perspectives on social, political and local topics.
