Commemoration ceremony for the victims of the World Wars in Lommel
Every year in November, a commemoration ceremony is held in Lommel to mark Remembrance Day. Lommel is situated in the east of Belgium, just before the border with the Netherlands and a few kilometres from Eindhoven. It is home to the largest German military cemetery in Western Europe, where almost 40,000 fallen soldiers are buried.
It has become something of a tradition for pupils from the iDSB to contribute to this deeply moving event at the military cemetery with a musical or literary performance. Alongside the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Belgium, other high-ranking officials, such as the British and Dutch ambassadors, are also in attendance.
