Commemoration of the victims of the world wars in Lommel
Every year in November, a commemoration ceremony is held in Lommel to mark Remembrance Day. Lommel is located in the east of Belgium, just before the border with the Netherlands and a few kilometers from Eindhoven. It is home to the largest German military cemetery in Western Europe, where almost 40,000 fallen soldiers are buried.
It has already become a tradition for iDSB students to enrich this very moving event at the military cemetery there with a musical or literary contribution. In addition to the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Belgium, other high-ranking officials such as the British and Dutch ambassadors are also present.
Anyone who would like to attend the event together with the pupils is welcome to register at jochen.flohn@idsb.eu.
