Our school is continuing to develop

At iDSB, we see school as a place that evolves alongside the people who bring it to life every day. That is why, this year too, we are making targeted investments in the modernisation and further development of our learning and living spaces.

Many measures were already put in place during the summer holidays, and further measures will be implemented over the course of the school year. Our aim is to create an environment in which children, young people and staff alike feel at home, enjoy learning and enjoy spending time together.

Step by step towards new favourite spots

Anyone who has walked through our school and across the school grounds since the summer holidays will surely have noticed: there have been changes in many places. We made the most of the holidays to renovate classrooms and further enhance our outdoor areas. There have been particularly significant changes in our kindergarten. The rooms have been completely refitted, freshly painted and fitted with new, light-coloured flooring. This has created a friendly and welcoming environment for our youngest pupils. The KiBi outdoor area has also been redesigned with new play equipment. Our assembly hall now looks much fresher and more modern, with a fresh coat of paint, new wall panelling and refurbished parquet flooring. In the secondary school, the classrooms on the second floor have also been refurbished. Thanks to the newly built fire escape staircase, these can now be used again.

There are new things to discover outside too: in the primary school playground, the sandpit has been renewed and fitted with new play equipment. Painted roads and colourful playing areas offer additional opportunities for play and physical activity. The seating in the amphitheatre has also been refurbished and looks almost as good as new again.

There have also been some developments in the secondary school playground: our balancing and equipment course in the lower school playground has now been opened. The children have taken to it with amazement and great enthusiasm. The varied equipment offers brilliant opportunities to discover and develop their own dexterity, strength and coordination through play.

There was a special event at our secondary school in early September: together with representatives from the school, the school association and the German Embassy, the new multi-purpose sports pitch and the beach volleyball court were officially opened. After the symbolic cutting of the red ribbons, our pupils were able to try out the new facilities straight away. This has created two new spaces that offer additional opportunities for sport, exercise and active breaks.

And the work continues: next on the agenda are, amongst other things, the refurbishment of the common rooms and the science and technology classrooms. The latter will also be equipped with new experiments and teaching materials to create even better opportunities for engaging and practical lessons.

We are delighted with all these changes – and look forward to seeing our children and young people making the most of the new and refurbished areas and bringing them to life.

These numerous projects demonstrate just how important the ongoing development of our school is to us. With every initiative, we are investing not only in buildings and facilities, but above all in the people who learn, work and spend time together here every day.
