Sur les pas des enfants d’Izieu avec les classes 10 et 11

As part of our study trip, Years 10 and 11 set out to follow in the footsteps of the children of Izieu.

On Thursday, we visited the Museum of the Resistance (CHRD) in Lyon. Friday was all about cultural exchange: we were guests at a school in Belley and then visited the synagogue in Lyon.

We spent the weekend in Izieu. On Saturday, the pupils took part in workshops where they explored in depth the escape routes, the children’s backgrounds and their fates.

A particularly moving moment was the official memorial ceremony on Sunday: together with pupils from Belgian schools, some of our participants read out the names of the 44 deported children and the seven carers from the Izieu home. Only one person returned.
