Honoured: FOS secures 2nd place in DIHK competition

We are delighted to announce that iDSB’s Fachoberschule (FOS) has won second place in the renowned DIHK competition ‘Schüler bauen weltweit Brücken’ (Students build bridges worldwide)! This competition, organised by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), recognises outstanding projects by German schools abroad to promote international understanding and cooperation and honours outstanding projects by German schools abroad that promote international understanding and cooperation.

A high-calibre jury – consisting of representatives from the DIHK, the World Association of German Schools Abroad (WDA), the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA), the Federal Foreign Office and the Association of Teachers in Schools Abroad – selected the best entries from 27 applications. The competition is endowed with a total of 120,000 euros.

The award ceremony took place on 13 May 2025 as part of the AHK World Conference in Berlin.

A visionary educational concept that cleverly combines digital skills, European values and vocational orientation.

    The jury

The FOS was awarded second place for its innovative digital teaching concept and received prize money totalling 40,000 euros! We are very proud. With our project for digital, interactive learning between Brussels and our co-operation partner, the German school in London, we were able to convince the jury that our educational programme opens up new perspectives for young people across borders. Congratulations in particular to Katharina Zettl, our head of specialised secondary school, who was instrumental in initiating and supporting the project!

These schools think European – and show how modern education can succeed across borders.

Peter Adrian, President of the DIHK, Vice President of the IHK Trier, CEO of TRIWO AG, Trier

We are proud of our students, the entire FOS team and everyone involved who made this success possible – and look forward to building many more bridges together with other German schools abroad.
