Pupils impress in German reading competition
On 7 January, we started with six readers from classes 6a and 6b.
Charlotte, Emilio, Marius, Felix, Alisa and Edda first read aloud from their selected books in a randomly determined order. The stories were sometimes funny and exciting and captivated all listeners. In the second part, the pupils had to read aloud from an unknown book. The main thing here was to quickly grasp the story and convey its mood.
The jury had to decide who had given the best overall performance – not an easy decision. Marius Schmitz was crowned the winner and thus qualified for the reading competition at the Brussels level. He was closely followed by the other participants.
On Thursday, 8 January, it was the turn of the Year 5 classes. For this year group, it was their first time reading on stage in the auditorium. Surprisingly, all the pupils mastered this challenge with flying colours. Augustina Niederländer ultimately impressed the jury with her outstanding performance. She read both stories with ease and great talent. Julius, Kristina, Elisa, Merle and Tudor were equally successful.
Next year, we look forward to seeing the new sixth graders build on the experience they have gained this year.
Thank you to all participants and everyone involved for the great organisation.
