Poetry Slam with Bas Böttcher
We cordially invite you to an evening that is as entertaining as it is poetic:
Welcome to the linguistic magic show of poetry slammer Bas Böttcher!
Monday, January 12, 2025, at 6 pm in the auditorium of the iDSB
With Catering | Free Entry
With the musical precision of a jazz band, Bas Böttcher makes words dance. He rhymes, dismantles, twists, and juggles them—only to reassemble them again. The compressed poetic format gives rise to live literature that is fun, surprising, and captivating.
As a pioneer of the German-language poetry slam movement, Bas Böttcher has shaped a new form of stage literature. His texts unfold in entertaining arrangements of meaning, sound, and words: sparkling arpeggios of meaning, cantabile language arias, and energetic rap recitals alternate and take the audience on a journey through the universe of language.
Bas Böttcher is a co-founder of the poetry slam scene, a widely published poet, and editor of the Poetry Slam Primer. His texts are considered classics of contemporary stage poetry, appear in schoolbooks and renowned anthologies, and have been celebrated on international stages from Paris to Beijing.
The Neue Zürcher Zeitung calls him a “pop poetry pioneer,” while the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung compares him to Ernst Jandl and Joachim Ringelnatz.
Look forward to an evening full of linguistic delight, wit, and poetic virtuosity—live, lively, and guaranteed to entertain.
