IDSB Fairytale Project Sparks the Imagination in All

From May 22 to 24, the children in the IDSB primary school entered the wonderful world of fairytales as told through the stories of the Brothers Grimm.

The first morning began in the amphitheater with Herr Gunter reading a story to all the children. As he told the tale of Frau Holle and her two daughters, we saw Frau Holle herself making a special appearance on the balcony, shaking out her bed pillow as the feathers fell like snow. Together, everyone sang Frau Holle´s song before heading to their classrooms to start their group work focusing on all the elements of this wonderful theme.

Throughout the three days, children from each year had the opportunity to listen to, read, tell and re-enact a wide variety of magical stories. They were able to look in-depth at the special features of fairytales and examine how such stories are composed. They even had the chance to write their own creative stories with fantasy figures and enchanting places. With additional handicrafts, drawings and role-plays, the children were able to fully express their love for and understanding of the wide variety of wonderful stories shared throughout our magical project week.
