On March 21, the IDSB primary school in cooperation with the Brussels bookshop Tropismes, hosted its first French-language book fair. The books, which were carefully selected with the help of the teachers, included fun, interactive, beautifully designed literature that every child will love. They were displayed in the music room where the children could explore them at leisure or sit and listen while a selection of books were read aloud. The range of books on offer included picture books, comics and short novels targeted specifically at our young audience.
One week later, on March 28, a similar book fair took place in cooperation with the English-language bookshop Treasure Trove, based in Tervuren. The beautiful display on offer included a wide range of titles for every level and interest, with a variety of books for children aged from 3 to 12, as well as learning books and a selection of CDs and educational games. Once again, the children were free to roam the fair, to pick up books and admire their glossy pages and to buy their favourite items.
On both occasions, parents also had an opportunity to select and purchase books together with their children in the afternoon sale.
The initiative was an excellent way to offer our young students access to popular, age-appropriate titles, in a relaxed and familiar environment, engaging them in the selection of literature and creating an excitement for reading and a love for books.
