On December 14, the children made a short visit to the Christmas Market in Stockel. After a brisk walk in the winter cold, they enjoyed the short tram ride to Place Dumon where, in the warmth of the tent, the group experienced the wonders of the Christmas Village and admired the beautiful arts and crafts gifts on display. In three small groups they toured the market, showing great interest in the paintings, porcelain, clothing, books, food and drinks on offer. Afterwards, a warm Belgian waffle gave them energy to make the short trip back to school, admiring the festive lights and decorations along the way.
The Christmas activities continued on December 20 with the Bunte Zeit Christmas party. The event kicked off with a special visit from Father Christmas himself, accompanied by his two helpers. The children listened attentively as he read from his little book, praising the children for the things they do well, and asking them to support each other in improving some other areas.
Father Christmas then invited some children forward so that he could distribute a few gifts to the group. Then, after everyone sang ´Feliz Navidad´ together, he left the children to enjoy the rest of the party.
The afternoon continued with a Christmas buffet offering warm drinks - spiced fruit tea and hot chocolate - as well as a selection of fruit and Christmas cookies. The children were delighted to open the gifts and discover new indoor and outdoor games to enjoy during the Bunte Zeit in 2019. While some children tested out the new ´Sure Ball´ game outside, others continued with some Christmas creative activities inside.
