Our four-year primary school is open to international pupils. About 50% of our families are at least bilingual.

Our primary school currently has 150 pupils. The classes have between 14 and 22 pupils. Our classes have a maximum of 25 pupils.

School hours

Our pupils learn in compulsory classes from 8:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. or 1:10 p.m. (class 4 until 3:40 p.m. on Thursdays).

You can find our holiday calendar and information about stages on the iDSB campus HERE.

Classroom language

German. Check out our programm "German as a second language"!

Foreign languages & options

We offer English or French for pupils in the primary school (from class 1), with three hours per week. We also have French-speaking and English-speaking full-day programs. Click HERE for more information (in German).

Teaching is based on the Thuringian Educational Plan, which is considered a high-quality educational standard and approved by German authorities. This thus makes it possible to easily change schools within the German Foreign schools and in Germany. In addition, our comprehensive school curriculum is also tailored to the needs of our pupils.

Primary school recommendation

In the first half and end of class 4, our pupils receive a written recommendation and detailed advice for the next level in class 5. The ultimate choice lies with the parents.

Our welcome culture includes…

  • try-out days before a possible registration
  • companionship by a godchild who helps your child during the initial phase
  •  many opportunities to make friends with schoolmates quickly in our school programs
  • a school community that offers you excellent tips and a network to help you quickly and easily find your way in Belgium
