A school day can often be long and exhausting. So the right refreshment in between is really important. In the Bistro and Mensa of the iDSB, our students get what is healthy for them and what they feel like eating.
The iDSB dining hall is housed in a bright, colourful room of the secondary school and offers space for around 100 children. We cooperate with the non-profit initiative of the Flemish government AGAPE. This caterer prepares high-quality meals for numerous pre-schools, schools and universities in Flanders.
The meals in our canteen are characterised by high quality:
- Locally sourced ingredients
- Use of seasonal products
- Low-fat and gentle preparation of dishes
- Balanced and varied menus
- Vegetarian menus and fish dishes
- Strict control of suppliers and adherence to the cold chain
You can find the current menu plan in our download area.
The Mensa is open to BVS and primary school children as well as older students and is becoming increasingly popular.
The children of the BVS and primary school have their warm lunch under the supervision of educational staff and are looked after in German, English or French, depending on the group.
From the 5th grade onwards, registration is no longer necessary, so that our secondary school students can decide spontaneously whether they want to have a warm meal in the refectory or take care of themselves in the bistro. During the warmer months, a varied salad buffet is also available in the Mensa.
Following the motto "healthier school" the bistro of the secondary school offers a daily changing offer:
- freshly squeezed orange juice in the autumn and winter seasons
- Fruit & Smoothies
- Muesli and yoghurt
- Wraps,salads and vegetable sticks
- warm snacks
- homemade pasta and potato salads
- freshly topped baguettes
The range is supplemented by culinary novelties from Belgium and Germany: vegan vegetable snacks, hot apple punch or gluten-free bars - there is something for everyone!
During the first and second breaks as well as during the lunch break, the students can provide for themselves independently and pay cashless with their iDSB card.
