Who we sponsor
The scholarship is intended for talented and motivated students who are not yet familiar with the International German School of Brussels and who can therefore get a special admission into one of the most interesting schools in Brussels.
What we stand for
The International German School of Brussels is certified as an ‘Excellent German Foreign School’ and sees itself as a place for excellent education and upbringing right in the heart of Europe. By awarding the German general university entrance qualification, the ‘Abitur’, the school provides access to the globally recognized German universities and colleges.
The “DIA – Deutsche Internationale Abitur” (German International ‘Abitur’ Exam), which is only taken at German foreign schools, takes into account the requirements of the globalized world in a special way through its promotion of bilingualism.
Our diverse program offer, which goes well beyond the boundaries of the regular school curriculum, brings out the personal talents of every individual.
The familial atmosphere, which dates back many years, is what enables us to keep focusing on our strengths: excellent & innovative teaching, integration, and individualized support.
What are our selection criteria?
The selection criteria are:
· good academic performance
· motivation, commitment, and determination
· extra-curricular ambitions for talents such as music, sports, art, or science
· social, community, or political engagement
What are the formal requirements?
Newcomers, i.e. students in class 5 to 10 (class 11 in the school year of the scholarship), who are not yet members of the iDSB school community can apply. Applications for siblings and/or children of employees are excluded.
The scholarship is only available to students whose school fees are borne by individuals (e.g., the student, his/her parents, or legal guardian). Students whose school fees are usually paid or compensated by a legal entity (e.g., the parent’s employer) are exempted from the scholarship.
The level of German language skills should be sufficient to be able to keep up with the lesson (at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference).
What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship enables the student to attend the school, learn in small classes, in an appealing and familial school atmosphere with a high level of teaching quality, many individual development opportunities, and a wide range of extra-curricular programs beyond the regular lessons.
Full scholarships are awarded on an annual basis (per school year). They cover all enrollment and school fees (except for incidental expenses such as travel, teaching material, and cafeteria costs). Accommodation at the school is not possible, but a host family can be organized if necessary.
After the respective school year, the regular school fees regulations take effect (in the following year).
